With its 7,641 beautiful islands, bright blue water, sandy white beaches, vibrant nightlife, and picturesque scenery, the Philippines screams romance—or perhaps "pagmamahalan," which is the Filipino word for romance.

If you're planning a romantic getaway with that special someone and you want to make it memorable, where should you go? With so many dreamy destinations for a romantic escape, it can be challenging to choose. Explore this list of 14 of the top romantic spots in the Philippines.

Need to Meet Someone to Travel to these Spots with - Date a Filipina

1. Batanes

Batanes is so romantic that it's among the most popular places for couples to celebrate their anniversary in the Philippines. You and your significant other can snuggle up as you take in the beautiful views, including rolling hills, breathtaking landscapes, stone houses, and cliffs. Walk hand in hand along the ocean and watch the sunset. Batanes is also known for being less crowded, and couples can have some alone time here to focus on each other.

2. Boracay Island

Boracay is among the most popular destinations in the Philippines for tourists and has one of the best beaches in the world. It's also known for its nightlife and water activities. But if it's romance that you're looking for, Boracay has that, too. Take a romantic sunset dinner cruise, walk along the 2 1/2-mile-long white sand beach, swim in the transparent waters, or enjoy a helicopter ride around the island. You can get a couple's massage in one of the hotels or resorts on the island or swim with the fish.

Boracay has also become a popular spot for proposals and weddings. Don't overlook Boracay Island if you're looking for a place to pop the question.

3. Palawan

Nothing says romantic like a vacation on a beautiful tropical island. When you explore Palawan, you'll find multiple islands and islets with turquoise water next to pristine beaches, perfect for a romantic stroll. If you enjoy activities as a couple, you and your partner can find kayaking, snorkeling, and scuba diving here. Additional elements include lagoons to visit and a coral reef garden. Magazines from around the globe have named Palawan the best island in the world on more than one occasion.

4. Coron

If you equate water with romance, Coron is the perfect getaway for you. In this small fishing village on the island of Palawan, "floating accommodations" are a unique option available to you. You can stay the night (or several) in an elegant houseboat, complete with a private room, balcony, and dining area, where you can step into the water to swim or kayak outside your front door.

For those romantic moments alone, take advantage of the uncrowded island with plenty of paradise to enjoy when no one else is around. You can also kayak, snorkel, eat dinner on the beach, bathe in the Maquinit Hot Springs, and take in unmatched sunsets.

5. Vigan

If your idea of romance is old-world architecture and quaint cobblestone streets, then Vigan is for you. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Vigan is a Spanish colonial town in the Ilocos region of the Philippines. You can go for a romantic dinner — be sure to try the empanadas — or shop at the local shops. Steal a kiss as you wander the famous Calle Crisologo, one of the charming main streets of the town, and pick up a sample of the Abel Iloko weave, a well-known local handicraft, to bring home as a souvenir of your memorable trip.

6. Iloilo

Another Filipino locale with a more old-world rustic charm is Iloilo City. Dubbed the Filipino City of Love, Iloilo has colonial churches, ancient houses, and old mansions. You'll find less traffic here than in many other parts of the Philippines, which already leads to a more relaxing atmosphere for your romantic getaway. Iloilo is known as the birthplace of the renowned La Paz Batchoy, a type of noodle soup; share a bowl with your love. Iloilo is also known for its delicious butterscotch.

For a day-trip outing to an island, head to nearby Guimaras and enjoy some superb mangoes.

7. Tagaytay

Not far from the Filipino capital of Manila is Tagaytay, a lovely and scenic town overlooking the Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. Its proximity to Manila makes it an easy choice, and the magical views, ample places for dinner for two, and cooler weather bring the romance. Couples can go zip lining, wakeboarding, or horseback riding, or they can take time for a romantic picnic at the picnic grove.

8. Siargao

Siargao is a teardrop-shaped island paradise with tons of natural beauty, including bright white beaches, groves of coconut trees, crystal-clear waters, and ocean waves that are good for surfers to ride and couples to frolic. Stay in one of the many lovely beach resorts. The views here are incredible, and the location is less developed and remote. Come here if you're hoping to unwind, unplug, and enjoy time alone with your sweetheart, uninterrupted and without distractions.

9. Bolinao, Pangasinan

With its white sandy beaches, Bolinao is Pangasinan's romantic paradise. Enjoy the natural beauty of rock formations, mountains, and ocean views. You and your special someone can remind each other that your love will last as you check out the Bolinao Lighthouse. This lighthouse symbolizes strong relationships because it remains standing even after typhoons, floods, and earthquakes have occurred in the area. For the famous sparkling white beaches, head to Patar for a stroll by the water.

10. Bantayan Island, Cebu

As one of the primary provinces of the Philippines, Cebu is a great vacation spot for tourists and locals alike. Located in the Central Visayas region, Cebu has a main island along with 167 additional islands and islets. Discover why Bantayan Island is one of the most popular.

Bantayan has some of the prettiest beaches in the country, where couples can enjoy sunbathing, swimming, or moonlit walks. The island is also known for its delicious and very affordable seafood. Perhaps you and your beloved can share a plate full of oysters, one of the supposed "foods of love."

11. Baguio

Although people most closely equate the Philippines with hot temperatures and sunny beaches, Baguio has some chillier weather—perfect for cuddling. Boating is one of the most popular activities here, or you can take a romantic walk through Burnham Park or pick strawberries at the strawberry farm. A flower festival held every February offers more activity. Still, Baguio is also the ideal spot to warm up with your significant other with a blanket and a cup of tsokolate, or hot chocolate, made with locally sourced cacao beans.

12. Sagada

Sagada, full of hiking trails and nature, is so romantic that it was once the setting of a Filipino romance movie. Now, Filipino tourists flock to the area to take advantage of the brisker weather and lush green hills. Kiltepan View is supposed to be one of the most romantic spots in Sagada, and you and your partner will also enjoy the many sights, including caves and fog-tipped mountains.

13. El Nido

El Nido is what you think of when you picture the ideal romantic beauty of the Philippine islands. Something out of a postcard, El Nido offers beautiful beaches, clear waters, palm trees, and waterfalls. If you're looking for romantic activities for your time here, you can travel from island to island on group or private island-hopping tours. Try swimming and snorkeling, dining on the beach, or walking beneath the sunset for more laid-back activities. For accommodations, consider glamping on Nacpan Beach.

14. Bohol

Like so many spots in the Philippines, the romance of Bohol comes from its gorgeous scenery, which includes a coastline, beaches, forests, and waterfalls. Bohol is also home to the famous Chocolate Hills, a geographical formation so-named because the green grass covering them turns brown during the dry season, thus giving them the appearance of chocolate.

Things to do here are as diverse as the landscape. Couples can watch for dolphins at sunrise, snorkel, share a couple's massage on the beach, dine beachside at sunset, or have lunch next to the Loboc River.

This list of romantic spots is far from complete. Although these locales are among some of the top destinations for romance in the Philippines, you can find many more places you can go for a couple's trip, including Siquijor, Port Barton, Lake Caliraya, Mactan, Camiguin, and many others. Just remember that you can't go too far wrong, since all these spots are beautiful and romantic. Pick one, then book hotels, plan activities, make reservations, and arrange other details for your romantic getaway for two. Have fun, be romantic, and enjoy the Philippines and each other.
